Spiritual direction is one person sharing with another the gentle, unwavering encouragement to open fully to God’s loving presence, discern what God is doing in her life, and seek ways to align herself with God.
Generally, this gift is offered through a series of conversations between the one seeking direction and a person trained in listening, reflection, and discernment. Many Christians find it to be a vital part of their spiritual growth and formation.
Embodied prayer is the term we use to describe an intention to connect with God (prayer) combined with bodily awareness, movement, attention to the breath, etc.
(Breath prayer, prayer walking a labyrinth, praying with Christian prayer beads, physical gestures that coincide with psalms - or other traditional prayers, certain hatha yoga movements, are all examples.)
